I moved to the Island in February of 2009
How long have you worked at the Commons?
I have worked as an employee at the Commons since July 2012. I volunteered off and on before I was hired.
Why do you work here?
I have always felt a strong connection to young adults. I enjoy having the opportunity to make a difference in their lives, and here at the Commons, we do just that: make a difference. Empowering young people with the needed life and technical skills they need to help them find success is a beautiful thing to be a part of.
What unique background/skills do you bring to the Commons?
My background is in vocational rehabilitation and mental health. I worked for the State of Washington as a vocational rehabilitation
What niche do you fill at the Commons?
I am a training specialist and incorporate our training program with the interns’ academic program.
What’s your favorite Commons memory?
We have developed “Game Night” here at the Commons, and it seems like the kids amaze me with a new precious moment every Saturday. I have wonderful memories of their love and devotion to the program here at the Commons that remind me of how important we are to the kids!
