How long have you lived on Whidbey Island?
Ten years last November.
How long have you worked at the Commons?
Since April of 2011.
Why do you work here?
Like many of us, I felt called to move to Whidbey Island because it seemed like the perfect place to raise my 12-year-old son. I work at the Commons because it’s all about fostering community, which is one of the things I love most about living here.
What unique background/skills do you bring to the Commons?
I have a background in public relations, communications, web design, writing, and editing. I’m also an entrepreneur, and love figuring out how to make things work.
What niche do you fill at the Commons?
I’m the wordsmith.
What’s your favorite Commons memory?
When I was introduced to Sheldon, a high school student who interned here, and he said, “My spirit name is Earth Cloud.” The young people who work here amaze me with their healthy sense of self. They give me a great deal of hope for the world!
